WHAT A SEASON!
Lions come up short at the State Tournament
after losses to Shorecrest and Mt.Si
After losing the first match of the day, the lions
played the loser out game without starting setter Megan
McBride. Junior outside hitter, Tricia Patton stepped in
to set, and off the bench came Freshmen, Kelsey Fausko
to the middle, and sophomore, Amanda Mozzone to the
outside hitting position. These ladies, plus the others
on the court and bench represented us well in a fight to
stay alive in the tournament. We are proud of all of
you! Unfortunately it was not to be.
-------------------------------------------------
McBride's
stellar career ends after an injury in the first match
of the day
Shorecrest started the day
with a 3-1 victory over fourth-ranked Auburn
Mountainview, which was considered a title contender
after winning the West Central/Southwest bi-district
tournament. But the Lions never got in a rhythm and,
after losing standout Megan McBride to an injury, were
eliminated by Mount Si.
Things went from bad to worse for Auburn Mountainview
when McBride, the team's star setter/hitter, was unable
to play in the loser-out match with Mount Si. The Lions,
who started the season rated No. 1 in the state, were
eliminated 3-1.
McBride, who has signed with Oregon State, took a
hard-hit ball to the left clavicle area against
Shorecrest but finished the match.
Afterward, she complained of blurred vision, headaches
and nausea, and trainers advised her not to play against
Mount Si. It was the only match she missed in her
record-setting, four-year career at Mountainview.
Update:
Megan is doing well and has no lasting effects from this
incident.
The Lions, looking for the first state trophy in the
school's four-year history, finished 30-7.
"We had an amazing season," coach Momi Bowles said.
